Breastfeeding is a special time for you and your baby, but sore or sensitive nipples can make it hard. NUK Nipple Shields protect sensitive nipples while still letting your baby suck calmly and naturally, so you can keep breastfeeding comfortably.

Made from ultra-thin silicone, they're shaped to allow more skin contact between you and your baby and leave plenty of room for your baby's nose, so the closeness of breastfeeding isn't disturbed. Different surface textures and four drinking openings give a natural feel while feeding. They can also help babies with a weak suck to latch on more easily, and can make breastfeeding more comfortable with flat or inverted nipples. Your midwife or lactation consultant can give you advice on using them.

The rounded shape works in any breastfeeding position and stays securely in place, and the storage box keeps them hygienic between feeds.

To find the right size, check that the shield feels comfortable, your nipple fills the hollow of the shield and your baby's lips close completely around it. Wash your hands before use, and moisten the shield with a little water or breast milk to help it stay in place.

Clean the shields straight after use with warm water and a mild detergent, and let them dry somewhere clean. Sterilise or boil them daily, making sure they're fully covered by water.
